Court: NJ Must Recognize Same-Sex Relationships
Yesterday the New Jersey Supreme Court held that New Jersey must provide the rights and benefits of marriage to gay and lesbian couples, whether that be through full marriage rights or civil unions that provide all the same civil benefits conferred by marriage.
This opinion comes after the trial court ruled against equal marriage rights and the appellate court upheld that decision.
The court gave New Jersey legistlators six months to implement the ruling.
