Saddam Hussein Hanged

Saddam Hussein was hanged this morning just before dawn.  One witness to the execution said, “He was a broken man.  He was afraid. You could see fear in his face.”  He further indicated that Hussein refused to wear a black hood over his head before execution.

Free Laptops

Apparently Microsoft has shipped free Ferrari laptops loaded with the new Microsoft Vista operating systems to “influential” bloggers.  Of course, presumably, Microsoft is seeking stellar reviews for the new operating system.

As Hawk concludes:

Of course, I’ll bet that the Ferrari laptops sent out have been tested to death and my guess is that they work very well. The more interesting thing for me to experience will be when I upgrade one of my PCs at home to Vista once it’s out in January. I’d also be interested in seeing a post comparing how one of these free laptops compared to simply upgrading someone’s old home PC.

More Useful Studies…

I truly hope this study wasn’t funded with any government’s dollars…

The study, which investigated the art of sword swallowing, concluded that sword swallowers are more likely to sustain injuries when they use multiple or unusual swords, or if they become distracted.

Shit!

I sprained my ankle this morning walking the dog.  Dammit!  The short version was I tripped on the drain grate.  I was distracted by someone who appeared to be deathly afraid of the dog (or dogs, generally).  In my effort to make sure the dog didn’t get too close to him, I wasn’t paying attention to where I was walking.  So, I am writing this with the laptop on my lap and my foot resting on pillows with an ice pack.

Merry Christmas!

Somewhat Annoying

I was having trouble opening a new Paypal account (for my business).  I sent Paypal an e-mail through its online contact form making an inquiry.

Here is the response I received:

Dear [Fool],

Due to an increase in seasonal email volumes, we may not have been able to answer your email.

If your inquiry has not been resolved or you have further questions regarding your PayPal account please call 1-402-938-3531.

Thank you for choosing PayPal!

Since Paypal actually holds some of my money, this response is entirely unacceptable.
